Unlimited Potential heads UP: For those of you interested in the topics of Identity and Privacy in todays' digital, connected Internet world... we give you the Internet Identity + Mobile BarCamp, hosted at the State Services Commission.
The focus of this Barcamp is a User-Centric Identity, the emergent Identity Meta-system and identity at large covering all the topics under it.
Basically working a solution to the problems around who gets to see your information, and an end to endless form filling on website signups.
The vision is to leverage the early leadership the State Services Commission (SSC) has taken in providing the Government Logon Service (and other planned services) plus the "smallness" of NZ to take a global leadership position in digital identity. Lets get Identity 2.0 (or 3.0) working here in NZ!
What makes it even more of a key event is the focus it could bring to the Managing Identity in New Zealand conference being held at Te Papa. The barcamp, like all barcamps is a way to participate in the emerging technology.
The informal, self organising event will consist of quality presentations and discussions involving people with experience in this area and a great opportunity to network with others in this space. Anyone can participate, and often provide a great insight into the real world problem, and help nut out some solutions.
In essence, to quote barcamp.org.nz:
NO SPECTATORS, ONLY PARTICIPANTS
If you are not learning or contributing it is your responsibility to respectfully find some place where you are. This is known as the Law-of-Two-Feet. Overall Barcamps are governed by these basic principles.
The barcamp will run the afternoon of Friday 25th April and Saturday 26th April 2008. It is a free event, but do register your interest on the Barcamp page.
The Technology Team at the Office of the Privacy Commissioner invites you to discover how "...with one free OpenID you can log on to all your favourite websites".
A presentation and discussion during which our invited speaker, Marek Kuziel, will describe how the technology works, and then look at how OpenID aims to maintain trust and protect privacy.
Time: 12.30-1.30 pm (Doors open at 12.15 pm)
